How to send a link in Instagram DM automatically
Updated 24 October 2026 · Reachinn team
Instagram doesn't make links in captions clickable, and "link in bio" loses people: they have to leave the reel, open your profile, find the link and tap it. Many never do.
Sending the link straight to their DMs is quicker, and it starts a private conversation. Here is how to do it automatically.
Why DM links beat link in bio
- One tap. The link arrives in their inbox, ready to open.
- The exact link. Each post can send its own link instead of a generic bio page.
- More engagement. Asking people to comment boosts the post, and every comment is a warm lead in your DMs.
- A conversation. They can reply with questions, which helps you sell.
Set it up step by step
- 1Sign in to Reachinn with your Instagram Business or Creator account.
- 2Choose the Link in DM template. It uses the keyword LINK by default; change it to anything you like.
- 3Choose the post or reel, or let it run on any post.
- 4Write the DM. Add your link as a button (up to 3), for example "Get the link". On Pro you can add an image card too.
- 5Switch it on, then tell people in the caption: "Comment LINK and I'll send it to you".
Make more people tap the link
- Buttons, not raw URLs. A clear button label gets more taps than a long web address.
- Match the promise. If the reel promised a recipe, the button should say "Get the recipe".
- Add a follow-up. Send a reminder after a delay to people who didn't tap (Pro).
- Grow while you share. The follower gate (Pro) asks people to follow you before the link unlocks.
Where to put the keyword
The automation only works if people know what to comment. Say the keyword in more than one place:
- In the first line of the caption, before Instagram cuts it off with "more": "Comment LINK for the full list 👇".
- On screen in the reel, as text in the last few seconds, when interest is highest.
- Out loud, if you talk in your reels: "Comment LINK and I'll DM it to you."
- In a pinned comment, so latecomers see it too.
Pick a short, single word that is easy to type on a phone. LINK, GUIDE, PRICE and RECIPE all work well. Avoid words people might write by accident in a normal comment.
What links can you send?
Any web link that starts with http or https: a product page, Amazon or affiliate link, YouTube video, course, Google Form, booking page or a WhatsApp chat link. For affiliate creators there is a ready Affiliate links template.
